greydragon has made a post over at D’ni Guild regarding fan created Uru Content

Dear Fan Community,

Over the last few years many of you have worked on modifying and manipulating Uru and Uru related products. By doing so you have raised many issues that Cyan now needs to look into. Whether the issue is fan created content to alcugs or your own personal endeavor these are not items we can decide on quickly.

The assumption made by many in the fan community is if Cyan doesn’t say anything then they must be okay with it. Don’t mistake our silence for approval. These issues need to be discussed in detail on our end to determine where they fall in the big picture.

We have never given anyone permission to hack our engine, make servers with unauthorized data; use our global data, etc.

Any fan created work will be addressed on a personal basis by our legal department. Please contact legal@cyan.com .

We have been continually amazed with the persistence you have shown and hope in the future we can work with you. We truly hope this period of planning will be sorted out soon. Unfortunately, the timeline for this is not entirely in Cyan?s control and we will try to update you whenever possible.

At this time I would refrain from releasing or modifying any data until stated from Cyan Worlds Inc. that it is all right to do so.

Following recent reports that Myst developer Cyan had closed, Music4Games has a new interview with Myst V composer Tim Larkin wherein he confirms the company remains open but will likely pursue a new direction. Full interview available at:

I really can?t say much about it, but Cyan Worlds is back. I can?t say for how long, but I can say we are back. We all moved into the cool building this last week. I?m glad to be back. It feels good.

Time of your life

Almost all of Cyan Worlds, Inc. was laid off today, including me. I know with the talent we have here people will find new places to go and do great things. It?s sad to see a company with such talented people to basicly expire. I don?t blame anyone for it happening. So today we had a company meeting in which Rand said some kind final words. Then we had a hamburger and goodbye gathering. Over the last few weeks leading to this point many of us had the hope that something would come up, but it didn?t happen. I will try to stay in Spokane as long as I can. I got some really good things going for me right now here and I hate to see that just dust in the wind.

So, as Green Days Time of Your life is playing on the company intercom system.

?Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go
So make the best of this test, and don’t ask why
It’s not a question, but a lesson learned in time

It’s something unpredictable, but in the end it’s right.
I hope you had the time of your life.?
