New Uru Live Episodic Content Model

GAMETAP UNVEILS NEW EPISODIC MODEL FOR “MYST ONLINE: URU LIVE” WITH
FIRST INSTALLMENT BEGINNING MAY 19TH

Myst Online’s Creator Rand Miller to Interact with Players at Special
In-Game Event

GameTap is taking its exploration and puzzle-driven massively
multiplayer online game “Myst Online: Uru Live” to the next level. Being
a leader in episodic gaming, GameTap is applying this successful model
to the dynamic world of Uru. This new gaming approach enables players to
schedule each month around when the latest updates are going live, while
also providing a solid window of time to delve into the existing content
more deeply.

Beginning on Saturday, May 19th, all of the future episodes’ content and
story (e.g. new Ages, pages, clothing, character interaction, story
revelations, artifacts and intrigue) will be released within a single
week each month.

In “Scars,” the first of the new episodes, the D’ni Restoration Council
(DRC) is preparing to grant Explorers access to the never-before-seen
Age of Minkata, but calamity arrives when someone close to them dies.
The effects of this tragedy will change the course of the restoration
forever. Minkata features a vast landscape with hours of unique gameplay
that can be enjoyed as a single player or multi-player experience.

To celebrate the launch of the new episodic content, Myst Online’s
creator Rand Miller and various members of the Cyan Worlds development
studio will be hosting an in-game event to interact with players and
take part in a casual Q&A.

Details as follows:

The Future of Myst Online: Uru Live

Dear Myst Online fans,

It has been more than two months since Myst Online was launched and the cavern is still buzzing with activity. Behind the scenes, we’ve been focusing on expanding the Myst Online universe with continuous content and Age updates, improving the technology, and listening to you – the fans.

Now, we’re pleased to announce that we’re ready to move on to the next phase.

Based on your feedback and in-game actions, we are making some big improvements. Starting with the next update, we are making the move to regularly scheduled episodic content release. By having a set schedule of updates, players can be ready when major events will be happening in the cavern. That means that the release of all of an episode’s content and story (e.g. new Ages, pages, clothing, character interaction, story revelations, artifacts and intrigue) will be packed within a single week each month, rather than spreading out the releases over the entire month.

Between episodes, feel free to take a deep breath, talk amongst yourselves, delve into the new content more deeply, create your own events, explore with your friends, discuss and dissect everything that took place, and prepare for the next episode.

This change will take place immediately and our new episode “Scars” will begin on Saturday, May 19th. The beginning is over. Everything in the cavern is about to change. This episode’s highlights include:

• The D’ni Restoration Council (DRC), often criticized for being “overly cautious,” is stunned when their caution and control is unable to save the life of someone very close.
• A never-before-seen new Age is released featuring a vast landscape with hours of unique game play to solve by yourself or with friends.
• The first hints of an impending conflict emerge and the repercussions will change the course of the restoration forever.

We couldn’t have gotten here without you! Thank you so much for being a vital part of our world.

Gallery Removal

Due to a security exploit in the software that DJC uses for the gallery (as well as Tweek’s in cavern blog Beneath) the gallery has been removed from the site as we clean up the damage, a new gallery build is esitmated for release in 3 weeks so hopefully we’ll have them back up and running sans the issue.

“Hiatus”

I use the term hiatus loosely, at the moment things in RL are a little busy and updates to DJC have been lacking because of it.

I do plan on picking up the slack when I get some time, and announcements about Uru Live changes and logs etc will start being posted again.

Just to update those who have been asking why the updates to the site have stopped.
